Week 4 - November 9, 2020

This week began a new unit: the synagogue. Our first topic in this unit was Shabbat, its practices and meaning.

In Rimonim class with Leilah we talked about shabbat and its connection to the creation story. To understand the different acts of creation, we danced to different songs representing days of creation. For example, for light and dark, sky and sea, and trees we danced to: A New Light by Eliana Light and Touch the Sky from Brave. Then we rested and meditated on the words "Shabbat Shalom". In discussing what we know of shabbat, someone in the  class said: "I spend shabbat with my grandparents sometimes, and the chalah is sooooooo goooooooood!"

In Anavim class with Stephanie we started class with a Harry Potter quote relating to SESLsince we're full of so many Harry Potter fans and to continue the social, emotional learning through the year. We played a NearPod game about Shabbat meanings and practices. The kids liked is so much we played it TWICE!

Next week we will continue our learning in this unit on prayer.
