Kita Alef with Stephanie
What wacky silly fun we had in Kita Aleph this week. Our main goal was to make sure each student was a total "MaNishtana" expert by the end of class so they could lead the song at their Seder. We each took turns leading it and the students did very well. We also reviewed the Passover story. Each student said they learned something they didn't know before. I hope they share it with you.  Finally, we learned the letter samech and won pizza coloring sheet prizes. Keep an eye out for the homework on our Google Classroom.

Kita Bet with Batya
This week, Kita Bet had a special guest all the way from ancient Egypy! Her name is Batya, the Pharaoh's daughter. She came to tell us about what happened to the Jewish people, years ago in Egypt and why we celebrate Passover every year. We learned about 4 questions that the children ask the parents on Passover eve that explains why we behave differently on Passover eve than the rest of the year. We also learned about the Seder plate and that all the bitter herbs we eat are supposed to remind us of the bitter time the Jewish people had in Egypt and how lucky we are to be free today! We love it when we have special guests join our class! Till next time!

Kita Gimmel with Yardena
This week we learned about the story of Passover. We talked about the different items on the Seder plate and the four questions. We discussed how the title is also a question that leads to another answer and question. We played a short trivia game regarding Passover and talked about what would be dayeinu, or enough, in our own lives. Each student shared something they are grateful for right now.

Kita Daled and Zayin with Heather
Today we began to explore the holiday of Passover. We brainstormed the terms, characters, and places associated with Passover and tried to build the story as a class. Then we checked out some online resources, such as "newspaper" representations and videos of the Passover story.  We explored the main ideas of the Passover seder and touched on what goes on in the seder itself. We rounded out by discussing where we felt "narrow" or "enslaved" in our current world and how we might seek freedom.

Kita Hey with Yonatan
Today we discussed what each learner does for Pesach with their family and we learned the Exodus story of slavery to freedom. We discussed how if at all is it relevant to us these days in light of pandemic. The students shared that staying at home can feel like a "narrow" place, or mitzrayim. We dived into the Seder plate, Four Children, Four Questions and sang along with the Maccabees (a highly renowned a capela group) to the Dayenu song.

Kita Vav with Stephanie
This week, we began by discussing what would make our virtual classroom environment most ideal and made some plans and guidelines. We reviewed the Passover story, dayenu song, and ma nishtana. We also learned the names of the items of the Seder plate in both Hebrew and English. We finished by talking about the quote by Emma Lazarus "until we are all free none of us are free." Pay attention to our Google Classroom for homework!
