February 14th, Telling and Retelling

Our students are continuing on with their explorations of the parshiyot (weekly readings) in the book of Bereshit (Genesis). We are hard at work creating a beautiful collective art project that we will present to our family and friends on February 28th at 6pm! We don't want to give too much away so that our families are surprised by the end product, but we can promise you it will be spectacular!

This week, Arielle's class focused on the story of Rachel, Jacob, and Leah. The class decided to put on a play to really get into the nitty-gritty of the story and step into each person's perspective in the narrative. Zev and Syrus oversaw special effects and sounds, while Isaac reminded the class of the details of the story.

Tali's class worked on exploring Parashat Noach and began working on their section of the art project. One student in the class said that the lesson we learn from the story is to be kind and nice to one another.

Adira's class watched the musical Children of Eden while making art related to their class portion, Parashat Bereshit. Tovi sparked a conversation about what fruit was on the forbidden fruit tree. Leora drew a snake that she said looked like Voldemort which sparked a conversation about evil characters in literature and in Bereshit.

Grace's class spent the day reviewing some of the prayers and melodies they have learned over the past 5 months. They did an extra-long song session and students got to choose their favorite melodies they had learned so far. Highlights included Kehilah Kedoshah by Dan Nichols and the Dinosaur Shabbat song.

We have one more class to work on our art projects and then we'll welcome our family and friends to show them what we have learned in the past few weeks! We cannot wait to see you there!

L'hitraot!
