March 14th, Purim is Here!
WOW! What an incredible day!
We started off the day by welcoming our students to the Romemu Center dressed to the nines in their Purim costumes.
Adira's class prepared for the carnival with a game of Purim JEWperdy and tested their knowledge of the Purim story. To wrap up the class, in the theme of Adar, they all went around and shared something that brought them joy in the past week.
Tali's class made mishloach manot for their classmates and discussed the meaning of Purim. One student noticed that the Purim story teaches us how to stand up for ourselves.
Grace's class did a similar project and gave mishloach manot to one another. Every student chose a classmate, wrote them a letter of appreciation, and chose two treats to wrap and give them. Our students were really in the giving mood this season! Special shout to Theo for her epic Purim costume. She wore a fantastic Lady Liberty costume complete with a foil headdress and homemade torch.
- Emily's class played a game where they went in a circle and tried to see how many Hebrew words they knew. Each student had to say a new word and the translation to English. If they didn’t have a new word, they were “out.” They got to 40 Hebrew words!
- Scarlett taught herself new Hebrew letters by working independently with flashcards. Scarlett, we're so proud of the independent initiative you took for your own learning!
